In May 2022, the National Park Service announced that the Lincoln Memorial was temporarily closed for cleaning after a graduation celebration got out of hand.
The name of the university attended by the criminally disrespectful students was withheld from the public.
Those supporting this informational omission no doubt insist that anyone in the vicinity of the Jan 6th Capitol Kerfuffle should not only be revealed to the public but also be remanded to authorities for possible prosecution to be languish in a sense indefinitely in premonitions of some sort of postmodernist gulag.
One's response to this celebratory vandalism can also serve as a barometer to the extent of one's potential political hypocrisy.
For example, one can't very well be outraged against one of the symbols of our “BELOVED DEMOCRACY” (a phrase that sounds as it it was plucked from the propaganda newsreels of some central European dictatorship) being defamed and then applaud destructive vandalism of historical monuments targeted by Antifa, Black Lives Matter, or run of the mill drunken hooligans.
Likewise, progressives cannot very well drone on incessantly about how the Capitol Kerfuffle threatened the foundation's of America yet insist that the wanton disrespect of this other particular monument and landmark is not worthy of some degree of punishment.
